Competing Narratives of Wartime Remembrance: Akiko Takenaka
Akiko Takenaka is a professor in the Department of History and specializes in the social and cultural history of modern Japan, specifically the Asia-Pacific War. Takenaka discusses her research on the competing histories of World War II and how she uses the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo as a vehicle through which to analyze those narratives in Japan.

Internship at the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Families: Corinne Price
Corrine Price, an undergraduate senior, worked as an intern at the Saartijie Baartman Centre for Women and Children, a domestic violence shelter in Cape Town, South Africa. The trip was sponsored by the University of Kentucky and was in conjunction with the Kentucky and South Africa Initiative: "Different Lands, Common Ground."
